Relocating to the Chicago Area

Relocating to a new state is always a stressful time. Along with making many life-changing decisions at one time, you have to be organized. The major part of your relocation options will depend on:

Which town to choose?

What is the best commute?

How about schools?

This list is endless?

In my many moves, I have learned a few easy tips to make your move simple and less stressful. The most important tip is to make lists and work from them faithfully. This sounds like a basic tip, but when moving the most obvious things are forgotten. By working from a list you have set up an inventory of your life. If you´re looking for a turnkey format, go to your computer and look in your software programs; there you will find various moving lists. You can easily customize any of these existing documents to fit your needs.

The second tip, when searching out a new area you should go out and have lunch or dinner in the potential neighborhood. This will gives you a feel for the locality. Don´t be afraid to ask the locals about the area. People love to brag about their neighborhood.

The third tip, make sure you overlap banking institutions for about a month or so. You ask why? Often times when changing localities processing your paperwork does not go as expedient as you wish. This, of course, only happens when you really need your resources. To avoid any delays in transferring your assets,
make sure you have a clear understanding of the process as it may differ with each institution.

The Chicago area is comprised of many distinct neighborhoods each having their own personalities.
Often people who are relocating choose an area based on school district or area amenities such as close proximity to the lake and parks.
